Nikon Transfer 2 Years, 3 Months ago
My normal policy is to load new versions of Nikon software as it is released. My view has changed with Nikon Transfer where the latest version caused problems. The images loaded normally up to around 95% and then too what seemed like ages to load the last 5%.

Nikon tried the same downloads without reproducing the problem and it is quite possible that the problem is with my software configuration.

Has anyone else had problems with the latest version of Nikon Transfer?

Were you loading from a card reader or directly from the camera?

So far I have no issues. I am able to transfer the images to two locations - Internal HD and external HD as backup. The speed is consistent and fast. I am using a card reader though as I want to minimize battery usage of the camera.

I tried both direct and using a high speed card reader, either way the images transferred quite quickly to 95% but slowed down after that, interestingly I would have one image loading slowly from 95% and another loading much faster, very strange. I eventually reverted to the earlier version which is absolutely fine. I haven't tried the upgrade on any of my other computers where it may be trouble free.

I tried to repeat the problem for pcs (I use macs)but don't encounter the problem you mentioned. Seems to be an isolated case and very likely to be software issue e.g. anti-virus software.

Do let us know if you find the cause and the solution.

Now that Nikon have released Transfer 1.1.0 it is all rather academic. I am just not sure I will be loading that one on all my computers either.

Well, since the last post I have ditched the notebook PCs and bought a MacBook, the problem, if that is what it is, still seems to be there but the images transfer OK so I have stopped worrying about it.
